Wearable Valentine

Hola guapas!

Since everybody else in the makeup community are posting their Valentine's Day looks I thought I might as well do the same. I'm not completely done with the Monster High series yet but I have no inspiration for it at the moment so it will have to wait and leave room for some wearable looks.

The look I'm going to teach you today is a typical romantic Valentine's Day look inspired by love and chocolate. And even if you really hate Valentine's Day you can still wear this look, because it's really wearable (at least if you like pink...).

So let's get the tutorial started!
Step 1
The most exciting picture ever... ;) Prime your eyes with your primer of choice. As you can see I've already applied my base.
Step 2
With a Mac #239 brush I applied a bright pink eyeshadow. I used "Matt glory" from Make Up Store but any bright pink will do. :) Blendy blend!
Step 3
Now we're going to apply a chocolate brown eyeshadow (I've used one of the matte browns from the 120 palette). You don't want the brown to get out of control so use a small brush, like Mac #219, to apply it. Start with applying an "extension" of your lower lashline, just like shown in the picture.
Step 4

Drag the brown into the crease! Just apply it in a thin shape since we're going to blend it out later.
Step 5
Blend the brown out. For this I've used a Mac #217 brush.

Step 6
Add some darker pinkish reddish color in the outer corner where the brown and bright pink meet. This give the look a little more dimension and helps the pink melt together with the brown a little more easy. The color I've used is the blusher Wonderblush "Cleopatra" from Make Up Store.
Step 7
We want a little more depth so we add some black eyeshadow to the outer corner in the so called "deep crease" of the eye. If you really want a light and superwearable look you can skip this step!
Step 8
Blend out the black and fade it out into the crease. Also, pick up a little, tiny bit of the pink lid color on a blending brush and trace the edges of the brown shape with it. I think that gives the whole look a lift! :)
Step 9
Pick up some black eyeshadow on an angled brush such as #266 from Mac, and press it into the upper lashline. In the outer corner, feather the black upwards towards the crease. Also apply some black really close to your lower lashline, taking the color about one third of the way under your eye.
To brighten up the eye (this is a great trick to make small eyes look bigger) I've applied a concealer pencil. You can also do the trick with a white eyeliner pencil but I was aiming for a softer result.
Step 10
Put on some mascara and if you like a pair of natural false eyelashes. For the moment I've abandoned my beloved Ardell #105 and used the #110 instead for a more natural result. :)

The brows are filled in with a soft brown color which comes from the 88 palette, but since I'm going to phase out the megagazillion palettes in time I will recommend "Omega" from Mac instead.  (I will write a blogpost about this later explaining why I'm not going to keep on using these palettes...)

Step 11
For the lips you could go for a more nude look if you'd like. I'm not that comfortable with pale, nude lips so I've used a lip pencil that is slightly darker than my natural lip color (which is "Something Blue" by Make Up Store) and on top of that Clinique Superbalm  Moisturizing Gloss in "Raspberry".

I hope that you liked the look and the tutorial! :) See you guys soon!

Monster High makeup series: Clawdeen Wolf

Hello cutiepies!

I've been quite busy this week and not feeling that well so that's why I haven't posted a tutorial in a while. Now, however, it is time for the next tutorial in the Monster High series, and it is the makeup of Clawdeen Wolf we are going to recreate. :)

This look will be fabulous on people with darker skin tones, but since I'm pale as a vampire I can't show you that.

And yes, I've been fiddling with the settings for my camera again so some of the pictures just looks like a mess. But guess what? I finally found a way to make the camera pick up the glitter! :D Yay! I don't know how I did it though. :P

Picture taken from: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037UUZAK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=birdwaterandb-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0037UUZAK

And this is what my recreation of Clawdeen's makeup look like:

Step 1

Prime your eyes with your favorite primer. Line your upper and lower waterline with a soft, black eyeliner pencil. Smudge it out into the lashline as well! Apply Nyx Jumbo Pencil in "Milk" all the way up to the brow and blend it out with your finger.
Step 2
Pop on a light lavender eyeshadow all over the Nyx pencil. The one I've used comes from the 88 palette and I've applied it with a large, fluffy blending brush.
Step 3
Using a small pencilbrush apply a darker, vivid purple eyeshadow into the creaseline. Don't make this "line" too thick since we are going to blend it out. The color I've used is the pigment "Amethyst" from Ben Nye.
Step 4
Blend out the Ben Nye pigment (or whatever purple eyeshadow you're using). You don't want to take this to high up towards the eyebrow so I'd suggest you use a clean pencil brush or another similar small blending brush to blend the purple out.
Step 5

Apply some bright pink eyeshadow between the dark and light purple. Blend it out well! I've used a pink from the 88 palette.
Step 6
Apply a reddish, brownish purple beneath your lower lashline and blend it out. I've used one from the 88 palette but you could just as well use "Sketch" from Mac.
Step 7
Pick out your favorite black gel liner and a thin brush. Line your eyes and create a little wing in the outer corner of your eye. Remember to always start thin and make it thicker!
My gel liner of choice is "Blacktrack" from Mac.

As you've probably noticed I've filled in my brows with a soft brown. As most of the eyeshadows in this tutorial it comes from the 88 palette, but any soft brown will do.
Step 8
Pop on some mascara and add a pair of false eyelashes (Ardell #105 of course :D). Then all you have to do to complete the look is to add some pink glitter from the crease and all the way up to the brow. I've used Make Up Store Glitter Eyeliner in "Fuschia".

The eyeshadows I've used from the 88 palette:

I'm having a bad hair day so I don't really have the self confidence to post a full face picture so you'll have to do with my eye. Hope you like the tutorial and the look anyway! :)

Monster High makeup series: Laguna Blue

Hello cutiepies!

Insomnia got hold of me last night so I've been really sleepy all day. Luckily I managed to do another tutorial. :) Today we're continuing the Monster High series with Laguna Blue.

Picture taken from:
http://mycelular.org/monster/monster-high-doll-lagoona-blue-mattel-toys-r-us.htm

I really love her purple eyebrows! :D

And here's the makeup look we're going to create!

While I was doing this tutorial I was fiddling with the settings on my camera, since the blue color didn't show up as vivid in the pictures as irl, so that's why the pictures doesn't look the same.

Step 1
Prime your eyes and line your upper and lower waterline with a black eye pencil. As usual we're going to put on our foundation, concealer and powder later. :)

Step 2
Apply Nyx Jumbo Pencil in "Milk" all over your lid and all the way up to your brows. Why do we do this? Well, since we are using very vivid colors we want to make the pop a little bit extra and the white creamy base will help with that. :) Besides, this time we're going to use a pigment instead of a pressed eyeshadow and since we're using it dry we need a creamy base for it to stick to.

Step 3
Apply a vivid purple pigment (or eyeshadow) to your lid and beneath your lower lash line. I used Ben Nye pigment in the color "Amethyst" and packed it on with a Mac #239 brush.
Step 4
Blend out the purple taking the color slightly above the crease. A suitable brush for this purpose is Mac #217.
Step 5
Take a light aqua blue color on a clean blending brush and apply it in and above the crease. Blend out well. As a highlight color, right under your brows, use a matte white eyeshadow such as Mac "Gesso". The white will also help blending out the aqua eyeshadow.

The aqua blue eyeshadow I've used comes from the 120-palette.

I've also added a dark purple in the outer corner of the eye to add some depth. The color I've used is "Plum" by Make Up Store, but you could as well use "Shadowy lady" from Mac.
Step 6
Before doing anything with the eyebrows it's time to put on the base (foundation, concealer and powder). I've used "Matt glory" form Make Up Store as a blush.

To make the eyebrow color as bright and vivid as we want it we'll use Nyx Jumbo Pencil in "Milk" on our eyebrows as well.
Step 7
With a Mac #266 brush (or similar) apply the purple pigment over your brows. For a more natural result apply the color with short strokes.
Step 8
I wasn't quite content with the eyebrows we made in step 7 so I went over them again with a dark, purple pencil. Just remember to sharpen it first since we are painting small "hairs".

Then, it's time for the eyeliner. Extend the inner corner a bit painting a little sharp edge. Follow your upper lash line and finish with a flick at the outer corner. You can use a gel liner if you want, but I've used an eyeliner pencil for a softer result.
Step 9
Pop on some mascara and a pair of false eyelashes. As usual I've used Ardell #105. You wouldn't have guessed that, would you? :)

Step 10
The lips should be a hot pink/fuschia color with a gloss on top. :) I first lined my lips with a flesh toned lip pencil, "Something blue" by Make Up Store. If you have a hot pink (or any pink) lip pencil, use that one instead! Then I added a hot pink lipstick from Maybelline New York (it really sucks so I don't recommend it!).

Then all you have to do is put a clear gloss on top, and you're done! :)

Monster High series: Frankie Stein

Hello everybody!

Here's the promised tutorial for Frankie Stein's makeup tutorial. :)

Picture taken from: http://dollcat.hubpages.com/hub/Monster-High-Dolls-Drop-Dead-Gorgeous-Fashion-Dolls

Step 1
Prime your eyes with your primer of choice. Line your upper and lower waterline with a soft black eyeliner pencil.
Step 2
Apply Nyx Jumbo pencil in "Milk" over your lid and smudge it out, patting gently with your finger.
Step 3
Press on a light pink eyeshadow over your whole lid, leaving a little space in your inner corner. Just like in the Draculaura tutorial I've used "Matt glory" from Make Up Store. But any bright Hello Kittyish pink color will do! :) Blend it out but don't overblend since we still want to be able to see the shape. To help the blending you can use a color similar to your skintone. For me that is "Blanc type" from Mac.

Also apply Nyx Jumbo Pencil in "Milk" beneath your lower lash line and smudge it out.

Step 4
Apply a reddish purple to your outer C and drag the color into your crease. For this I've used a small pencil brush.
I've used a Mac #217 to blend the color out.

Apply Nyx Jumbo Pencil in "Milk" in the inner corner of your eye and if needed a bit more under your lower lash line. Blend it out using your finger.

Step 5
Frankie Stein has a peppermint green skintone and if you're going to a masquerade you might want to use a minty green all over your face.

To make the look more wearable however I added just a touch of peppermint green in the inner corner and under the eye.

The green I've used comes from the 120-palette.

Step 6
Apply a dark green eyeshadow, such as "Humid" by Mac, in the outer corner under your eye. Blend it in well with the peppermint green.

Now it's time for your base. After doing your concealer and foundation routine, powder your face with a soft wash of white or translucent powder.

You can stop here but if you wish to have that green I-feel-sick-glow worthy a true Monster High student, take some of the peppermint green eyeshadow and sweep it all over the face, neck and ears. You don't have to use much, just a little to give your skin a blueish green tone.

Step 7
With a sharp, angled brush add some black eyeshadow to your upper lashline.

Use a warm, soft brown on your eyebrows.

Pop on some black mascara and a pair of false eyelashes and you're done. :) The lashes I've used are the usual, Ardell #105.

The lips should be red and glossy. I've used Isadora Lip Liner in "Prime red" and over that some e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipstick in "Cherry tart".

I didn't add the scar because I was going to wear this makeup the rest of the day and I would've felt quite stupid walking around with a scar painted on my face. :P

Hope you like this tutorial! :)

Don't forget to comment and subscribe! That'd do my day! :)

Monster High makeup series: Draculaura

Hello cupcakes!

It's so nice to be able to use makeup again! And on both eyes too! :D

So, you might guess from the title of this post what the new makeup series will be. :) The first moment I saw the Monster High dolls I fell in love with them completely. Man, I wish there had been Monster High dolls when I was a kid! They're so pretty and the whole idea is fabulous!

I'm making a series of tutorials based on the different characters from the Monster High doll series. The dolls actually have makeup so I thought I'd recreate that makeup. I'm not doing a full on costume for each character because obviously that would take a lot of money and effort.

The first character is one of my favorites. Her name is Draculaura and she is (surprise, surprise) a vampire. :)

Here's a picture of the doll taken from:

http://dollcat.hubpages.com/hub/Monster-High-Dolls-Drop-Dead-Gorgeous-Fashion-Dolls

and my makeup look based on this character:

Of course I noticed afterwards that I'd put the heart under the wrong eye, but it's no biggie I guess. ;)

So let's get the tutorial started :)

Step 1
Prime your eyes and line your upper and lower waterline with a black eye pencil.
 Step 2
Apply Nyx Jumbo pencil in "Milk" on you lid. Smudge it out evenly over the whole lid.

Step 3
Apply a light pink color to the outer and inner corners of your eye. I've used the blush "Matt glory" from Make Up Store but a possible dupe would be for example "Dollipop" from Sugarpill.
Make sure to leave a little "pocket" of white in between the pink corners. :)
Step 4
With a pencil brush apply the same pink eyeshadow in and above the crease  and drag the color out to form a cateye.
Step 5
Blend out the pink shape with your favorite blending brush! :D To help blending you can use a color quite similar to your skin tone or one that is a couple of shades lighter. For me that is "Blanc Type" by Mac. Also apply this eyeshadow in the "pocket"and blend it in with the amazing pinkness. :)
Step 6
Apply a darker pink/fuschia to the outer corners of your eyelid. I've used one from the 120-palette, which I will show you in the end of this blogpost. :) Also put this color beneath your lower lashline and blend it out.
Step 7
With a pencil brush apply a reddish purple in your crease and beneath your lower lashline. The color I have used is "Sketch" from Mac.
Step 8
Blend out "Sketch". You can add some more of the light pink (the first one we used) to help blending.
Step 9
With an angled brush, such as Mac #266, push a matte black eyeshadow into your lashline. I've also dragged the black out into a small wing at the outer corner.

Now it's time to apply your foundation and powder. I've used my regular foundation since I am very pale but you might want to use a paler one since, after all, this is a vampire look. :) I've also used a white powder for maximal vampireness! And please, please, please, don't make the mistake they've done in the first Twilight movie. Make sure to put makeup on your ears and neck as well! Vampires usually don't blush (not that I know of anyway) but Draculaura is a pink vampire so no blush would look strange. I have used Make Up Store "Matt glory".

Step 10
Fill in your eyebrows with a brown eyeshadow. Mine is from the 88 palette.
Apply a black mascara to your top and bottom lashes. Since this is a doll look, long lashes are mandatory! My lashes are really short so I've used my favorite false eyelashes (Ardell #105) to complete this look.
One of Draculaura's characteristics is a heart drawn under her left eye (as I said I've drawn it under my right one :P). Take a dark red lip pencil and draw the outlines of a little heart.

Step 11
Fill in the heart with Nyx Jumbo Pencil in "Milk". Smudge it out to create an even surface for the eyeshadow we are going to add to stick to.
Step 12
Apply some pink eyeshadow onto the heart and you're done! :)

And since I know people will ask: I don't have contacts, the eyes are made in photoshop.

Step 13
Take a dark red lipliner and line your lips. Also fill them in with the same liner. I've used Revlon ColorStay Lip Liner in "Wine". Then take a hot pink lipstick. The one I used is so awful I won't even tell you the name of it. But any hot pink lipstick will do! Here I've also applied some white eyeshadow on the center of my lower lip before adding a clear lipgloss.

As I said I am super excited about this new makeup series and I hope you are too because there's a lot of Monster High characters left. :) The next one I'll do will be Frankie Stein and will hopefully be posted tomorrow.
