Lollipop

As you probably already know I adore my Sugarpill eyeshadows. I wanted to try on a very different combination of vibrant shades so I wrecked my brain and inspiration picture stash for ideas. Eventually, I came across a look by Linn, a.k.a. MrBarbie at Dayviews.com that I decided to recreate (with a few modifications...). :)
If you're a member on Dayviews you can find her picture here.

Well, now onto my version of this look.

I decided to name this look "Lollipop" because that Lollipop song kept popping up in me head frequently during its creation. Buttercupcake is adorning the upper lid accompanied by Dollipop on the lower. They definitely make a candylicsious duet!

To get Buttercupcake to blend into my skin a little better, and to give my crease some definition I used Taupe notch by Makeup Geek as a transition color.

If you don't have the perfect Barbie-pink shade of lipstick you can do like this: 1. Make sure your lips are adequately moisturized. 2. Wipe off any excess lip balm and then apply NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk all over your lips. 3. With a lip brush apply a hot pink over your lips, making sure that Milk doesn't show through anywhere. 4. As a finishing touch, apply a little more Milk to the center of your lips and finish with a clear lip gloss.

Haha, I guess this is NOT my style at all but I kind of liked the result anyway. :) Sugarpill-Barbie/Pin up. Or something.

Wet N Wild Megalast Lip Color

It is hard to disagree that both of this lipsticks are utter yummy-ness in a little tube. Until now, I had never tested the cruelty-free low budget brand Wet N Wild, and I must say I was positively surprised.
I came across Cherry Bomb when I was looking for a dark cherry-red lipstick and soon after the darker,  purple Vamp It Up caught my eye.

These lipsticks are part of the Megalast Lip Color series, which provides a very convenient description of them. They last long, without getting blotchy, which is very unusual for lipsticks of dark shades such as these.

Cherry Bomb is a dark cherry red, as the name suggests. Unlike many other lipsticks with the word "cherry" in the name this one refers to real cherries. Ripe ones. The ones you select exclusively because they taste the best.

Dark purple perfection. Those are the words I would use to describe Vamp it up. It is just gorgeous, long lasting and smooth like a dream. What more could you ask for? :)
This is definitely going to be a go-to lipstick for me when I want a substitute for black!

Thank you so much for reading and hope you'll have a lovely day! :)

Pastel Goth!

Pastels and I have never been friends. In fact I have always hated pastels. When I heard about the "pastel goth" trend I just wrinkled my nose. Pastels. Bluueeh!

Last week I read a blogpost, though, by The Cemetery Dreamer that made me change my mind about the whole pastel goth thing though. :) Pastels can be awesome! Indeed.
I was so inspired by that particular outfit so my mind directly began to conjure a makeup look combining pastels and goth.

This is what I came up with:

The light purple is Wisteria by Makeup Geek, which is a color that I normally use for blending or highlighting purple looks. This time it is the main focus of the look and I think it is lovely combined with black eyeliner. In the crease I've used Cupcake, also by Makeup Geek, which is a muted pale pink that is perfect for blending the purple into the skin.

Arched brows contributes to the gothicness of this look.

And of course, when wearing such a "nice" eye makeup it is only fair to combine it with black lips. :)

Soon I've completed my first week at my trainee job and I LOVE it! :D I work at a cosmetics counter in a department store, which means meeting a lot of nice people and talk about makeup all day long. It's just awesome!

Anyways, thank you so much for reading and hope to see you soon! :) Have a lovely day!

Birthstones: Garnet

First day at my new trainee job and I'm dead tired but it has been fun! :) I had already prepared this post for you this past weekend but I've saved it until now.

This will be a new makeup series based on the birthstones for different months. I know that there are different variations on which stone is for which month but I will stick to the one that I learnt when I was little... I am not sure if I am going to do the stones in order or if I am going to just do them as I get inspired, and publish them when I am finished rather than the accurate look for the corresponding month. We'll see. :)

So the birth stone for January is garnet, which is dark, deep red.

I wanted to do something very gothic and I figured that this would be the perfect opportunity since the colors of a garnet definitely are goth-look-appropriate. :)

Don't you just love thin, extremely arched brows like these? :) I guess they are not for everybody, but for a gothic look they are just lovely.

Blood red lips finishes the look!

Step 1. After priming your eyes, apply NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean to the inner and outer corner of your eye and Milk in the center. Blend out with your finger, a brush or your big toe. Whatever you feel most comfortable with. ;)

Step 2. In the center of your eyelid, apply Love+ by Sugarpill. Pat it on and layer it to achieve an opaque and vibrant red color.

Step 3. On each side and "on top of" Love+, apply Bitten by Makeup Geek, or any other dark burgundy red eyeshadow.

Step 4. Blend. Blend. Blend. And blend a little more.

Step 5. Eyeliner pencil on the waterline (upper and lower...). Apply first Bitten on the lower lid and then, blend it out with Love+.

Step 6. Apply the base and clean up around the eyes. Make sure everything looks smooth and blended.

Step 7. I chose thin, very arched eyebrows for this look to give it a little more vampiric appearance. You can of course wear your brows however you like!

Step 8. First, apply a thin line of black eyeliner on the upper lash line and smudge it out. Use black eyeshadow to soften it even further. Then, apply mascara and false eyelashes (these are Red Cherry #43). On the inner corner and underneath the eyebrow, highlight with NYX Milk and then pat some matte white eyeshadow on top.

Step 9. Combine with a blood red or black lip and your done! :D To achieve the lip color for this look I lined my lip with a soft black eyeliner pencil and then smudged the liner in towards the middle of the lip. On top, apply Elegant by Makeup Geek or other dark red lipstick.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And as a dramatic end to this post I will give you an outfit picture, with my new corset from Tokill4. Isn't it lovely? :D Too bad that the details aren't very visible... The skirt is from Burleska and the top H&M.

Hello, I'm short and have no neck... :P

I hope you liked the look and the tutorial. Thank you for reading! :)

Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Inspired

The past week I have had severely irritated eyes and have taken precautions with wearing makeup in case of an eye infection. Fortunately, it seems to be allergies, which I often have problems with and yesterday I was very pleased to play with my lovely makeup collection again. :D

This look is inspired by this insanely gorgeous makeup by Alex Box, which was created for the Human Fundamentalism collection by Illamasqua:

As you can see I haven't tried to recreate this look, simply done my own version of it. :)

Since I don't have any of the Illamasqua products (except for the Skin Base Foundation...) that probably were used in this look I had to use my Sugarpill eyeshadows instead.

For the lips I wanted to go for a more pinkish-red (or reddish pink...) so I combined Fearless and Elegant by Makeup Geek to get a satisfactory shade.

I debated for a long time wether I should have eyebrows for this look or stick to the original look without them, but eventually I came to the conclusion that light brown eyebrows would look great. And I kind of like the result.

On Monday I will start a trainee job at the makeup department of a big department store. :D I look very much forward to it but in the same time it will mean less time for blogging, which of course is a bit sad. But I will definitely be back as soon as I can with new looks, reviews and random babble. :)

Have a great day and thanks for reading! :D
