Hello cupcakes!
It's not too long left to Christmas and new years eve so I thought I'd do some holiday looks for you. :) The look I'm doing today is a really dramatic cat eye (you all know I love cat eyes) with gold, silver and rhinestones. Of course you can wear this look at Christmas as well but since it's more of a party look it's probably more suitable for new years eve. Anyway, hope you like it! :)
Let's start the tutorial! :D
Step 1
Prime your eyes. Put on pieces of Scotch tape on the outer corners of your eyes (apply it as if extending your lower lash line). Using a flat shader brush apply black eyeshadow starting form the outer corner of the tape sweeping inwards. The shape of the eyeshadow should be such, that when your eyes are open and you look straight forward the upper part of the shadow should be a straight line. Hope this explanation makes any sense ;)
Step 2
Fill in about two thirds of your eyelid with the black eyeshadow.
Step 3
Blend the upper part of the eyeshadow using the same shader brush as before (just wipe it off before blending). Sweep the brush carefully back and forth over the line to blend out the harsh edge. You should be careful not to overblend at this step since we want to keep the shape!
Step 4
Remove the tape and blend out the harsh edge by the same method as used in step 3. Also, apply some black under the lower lashline. Apply some NYX Jumbo Pencil "Milk" in the inner corner of the eye and blend it out into the black.
Step 5
Press some shimmery, golden eyeshadow onto the area where the black meets the white. Blend the gold out a bit into the black and into the white. In the inner corner of the eye apply some shimmery silver eyeshadow (or white if you prefer). The eyeshadows I've used are very fallout prone so I tapped off the excess off the brush before applying the colors to the eyelid.
Step 6
Apply a black eyeliner pencil to your upper and lower waterlines. Fill in your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil in a color that suits your natural brow color or one that is a couple of shades darker.
Add some highlighter beneath the brows. I've used a light yellowish, shimmery eyeshadow for this purpose (from the 120-palette).
Step 7
Apply a lengthening black mascara to your upper and lower lashes. On the lower lashes concentrate the color on the outer corner of the eye. Apply a pair of false eyelashes. Corner lashes such as Ardell #305 would be great with this look but I didn't have any at the moment so I used a full set.
Using lash glue, apply some golden and silvery rhinestones to the black shape. My thought was to apply more of the golden rhinestones than the silver ones because we have more gold on the eyelid than silver. Of course you can do the opposite as well :)
Step 8
Apply some concealer under your eyes, if needed. Add some rouge to the apples of your cheeks and drag the color along your cheekbones up towards the ears.
For lips I've used a red lipgloss and, since you don't want to hold back on new years eve, added some glitter to the center of the lips.
