Sparkle sparkle!

Hello cutie pies!

Today I tried to do something creative but the pictures turned out horrible. :( I'd like to do this look some other time though on a real model and have the pictures taken by someone who knows what he's doing :P

Here's a picture anyway:

Hope you like it! :)

Pink and black sparkly New Years Eve look

Hello cutie pies!

Here's the promised tutorial right in time for New years eve! I love the combination of the colors pink and black and the sparkles just adds something extra fun to the look :)

By the way, when I photographed the Northern Lights look I turned up the saturation on my camera and of course I forgot to turn it down again for this look. And since I'm far too lazy to fix it on all of the pictures in Photoshop, my skin looks as red as a traffic light...

Wear this if you think a gothic version of Barbie is a good idea.

Don't wear this if being mistaken for a dragqueen is your worst nightmare.

This look is fabulous with green eyes!

So, let's get the tutorial started :)

Step 1
Start with priming your eyes. I'm using UDPP. Since we don't want any smudginess on this look later we're going to thightline our eyes in this step. As usual I've used my Isadora Inliner "Indian ink", but you can use any soft, very black liner you like. Make sure to really rub it in between your lashes to make your lashline really dark.

Step 2
Add NYX Jumbo pencil "Milk"to your lid and smudge it out gently with your finger. We do this only to intensify the pink color, so if you have another similar eyepencil in pink, now will be the perfect time to use it. :) I, however, don't own any pink eyepencils so white will have to do for me.

Step 3
Add a pink eyeshadow to the lid on top of the eyepencil you used in step 2. You can use either a shimmery one or a matte. I've used Make Up Store Blush "Matt glory". Note that I've put the color slightly above my crease. This is because my eyelids are a teeny tiny bit hooded and I am going to create the cut crease slightly above my natural crease.

Step 4
Now you want to create the cut crease. I've used the Mac #266 angled brush and a matte, black eyeshadow. My black eyeshadow is Make Up Store Microshadow "Pollution".

The easiest way to do this is to look straight into the mirror and start drawing the cut crease right above your natural crease (or in your natural crease depending on your eyes) and work outwards. This can be a bit tricky, but if you've got any questions feel free to ask :)

Step 5
Now you want to add some "height" to the drawn creaseline. I did this by going over it with the same angled brush as before (to which I added some more black eyeshadow) and dragging the colors upwards in small feathering motions. (This would have been SO much easier to show you in a videotutorial! I swear I'll try to get a camera soon!)

Blend the edge gently! You don't want any harsh lines but you don't want to overblend it either. You can also add a highlight underneath your brow to make blending easier. I used a Mac #217 for blending, but if you've got a little less space between your eyebrow and your crease you can use a smaller brush such as the Mac #219.

 Step 6
First, if you hadn't already done that, put on your foundation, concealer and stuff like that.

Using the same angled brush as before (and the same eyeshadow) I created a little flick in the inner and outer corners of the eye. To get this even on both your eyes can be a little bit tricky so doing an outline with a white eyeliner pencil might be a good idea. White is so much easier to erase than black!

Step 7
Fill in your eyebrows (I've used what was left of the black eyeshadow on my angled brush). Put on a volumizing mascara and some dense eyelashes. I've used Clinique High Impact Mascara and eyelashes from H&M. Since we want the pink color of the eyeshadow to show we might don't want our lashes to be too long.

Step 8
Put on some pink glitter! I prefer to use glitter eyeliner for this since it's the easiest method :) The glitter eyeliner I've used is "Fuchisa" by Make Up Store.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

New banner! :D

Hello cupcakes!

Today I made a banner for my blog :) I don't think I'm 100% happy with it but it will do for the moment.

The amazing photoshop brushes I've used to create this banner comes from:

I've spent my afternoon taking pictures for another tutorial that will hopefully be posted here tomorrow :)

Here's a sneak peak!

Northern Lights

I'm back! :)

I've had a great Christmas holiday and now I'm back home again. Hope you've had a fabulous holiday as well!

The look of today is inspired by northern lights which is a commonly occurring phenomenon in the northern parts of Scandinavia in the winter.

My eyeinfection is getting better but I still don't want to put on any makeup on my left eye so you'll just get another picture of my right one ;)

I think this makeup would look great on people with really dark skin and black/dark brown eyes! :)

Another red and green Christmas look

Hello cupcakes!

Today I'm going to show you another one of those red and green Christmas looks. ;) This look was what I bought the Stargazer lashes (the ones with the white beads) for in the first place. What do you think? :)

The red colors from the 120-palette tend to be a little less pigmented than I want them so I always use a red base underneath to bring out the color. Here I've used a regular lip pencil (just make sure you use a good primer first, otherwise you will have creasemania). Put it on your lid and blend it up into the crease :)

As you can see (or maybe not, because of the false lashes) I've added some dimension by adding a teeny tiny hint of black in the outer corner of the eye.

Christmas vampire?

Hello cupcakes!

I wanted to make another holiday party makeup look and since I love gothic makeup it turned out more of a Halloween look than a Christmas look. But vampires can celebrate Christmas too I guess! :)
I still have that eye infection so I won't put makeup anywhere near my left eye. So you'll have to do with one eye pictures for the time being. :P

For this look I used the H&M party lashes I bought the other day. Hope you like it!

I didn't really feel like making this look into a tutorial but since people always ask me how I get my eyeshadow so black I thought I'd do a description of it anyway :)

Step 1
Prime your eye and wait for the primer to dry for a few minutes. Take a black gel eyeliner on a blending brush (or your finger) and spread it all over your eyelid and under your eye. Blend it into the crease, making sure there are no harsh edges.

Step 2
Pack a dark purple (or black if you prefer) eyeshadow on top of the gel liner. Blend out. Here I've also used a pink shadow (or actually a blush) to blend out the purple and make the purple color more prominent around the edges. I've also taken a black eyeshadow and drawn it all the way up to the eyebrow in the inner corner.

Step 3
Apply a soft black eyeliner pencil to your upper and lower waterlines. Put on a black mascara. Fill in your eyebrows with black eyeshadow. Apply the false lashes!

Step 4 (optional)
Using a liquid eyeliner draw some dots in the outer corner under your eye. I would have loved to use rhinestones instead of drawing the dots but I don't own any black ones at the moment.
Apply some purple glitter in the inner corner of the eye. You can skip this if you'd like, to make the look more gothic.

False lashes haul

Hello cupcakes!

This week I've found some fabulous lashes that I couldn't resist. :D

H&M Party Lashes (Purple and black)

The first pair I'm going to talk about is the Party Eyelashes from H&M. They are purple and black and really, really curled. I saw them in the store and hesitated to buy them since they didn't look like superhigh quality lashes. But yesterday I was just too curious about them to resist :) And after all they were very cheap.

The lashes were a little bit too long for me so I had to cut them to make them fit my eyes. Besides being too long, the stems of these lashes were a little bit too flexible making it hard to get the ends to stick (especially in the inner corner).
On the whole, I'd say these are good lashes but not great. Since they're so cheap you should definitely check them out :)

Stargazer eyelashes with white beads
The second pair of eyelashes are from Stargazer and in my opinion perfectly suitable for different kinds of Christmas makeup. The beads come in two colors, red and white, but I chose the white one since it's probably more useful for me than red.

The quality of these lashes are actually quite good and the stem is not too "hard", which has been the case with other lashes I've bought from Stargazer.

My first thought was that the beads were going to feel a bit heavy but they didn't. :)

Make Up Store Lace Lashes
I found these babies in a Make Up Store outlet and didn't think twice about buying them. They are really lovely lace eyelashes! I haven't tried them on yet but I'm looking forward to do so :)

I hope that I will be able to use all these lashes and show you some time soon! :)

My version of the Pixiwoo green Christmas look

Hello everybody!

All our favorites the Pixiwoo sisters uploaded a tutorial for an absolutely gorgeous Christmas makeup look today and of course I had to try and do my own version of it! :)

Here's a link to their clip:

It's so simple and yet stunning!

Anyway, here's my own interpretation of the look! :)

I hadn't got all the product that Nic's using in the video so I rummaged my own makeup kit and found some alternatives :)

Purple and silver smokey eye

Hello cutiepies!

Here's a purple smokey eye that is suitable for a Christmas or New Years eve party. It looks kind of matte on the picture but believe me, in real life it was really sparkly! I've used my new Beauty Marked eyeshadow for this but unfortunately the pretty sparkles didn't show up on the picture. You'll have to use your imagination and picture some purple sparkles in the darker section ;)

Concealer pencils and early Christmas gifts :)

Hey there!

Sorry for the lack of updates the past week. I have been busy practicing for a test I was supposed to do for a makeup artist job. The test was to show that I'm able to do a simple black, smokey eye (base, eyeshadow, eyebrows, lips) in 20 minutes. I did the test yesterday and passed but the company seemed unreliable and fraudulent. After having looked them up I found that nobody had anything positive to say about them, so I've decided to turn them down.

Anyway, last week I bought three concealer pencils from MakeUpStore. It is the Cover All Mix Pens, which are pretty much the same as the Cover All Mix concealer wheel (also from MakeUpStore) but in the form of three pencils instead.

A couple of years ago I bought the Cover All Mix concealer wheel and didn't like it that much, but I decided to give the pencils a shot anyway since it said that the formula had been improved. The pencils are supposed to be more creamy and easier to work with. In my opinion, this is completely true. I haven't used the pencils that much yet but I like them this far. They aren't as good as the MAC concealers but they definitely do their job.

I also had some early Christmas gifts this year! :) I got two brushes from MAC, #239 and #266, and my first MAC eyeshadow, Beauty Marked.

I love love LOVE the MAC brushes! I probably won't ever do makeup again without using the #266. ;)

As for the eyeshadow I was a little disappointed that it wasn't as sparkly as it looked. It's more of a purply black than a sparkly purple that I first thought. But I love it anyway! :)

Tutorial: Crazy Christmas Candy Cane

Hello cupcakes!

As promised I will continue with more holiday looks and the look of today is quite a crazy one. I have got an infected tear duct (due to sloppy makeup removing habits) in my left eye so I've only put makeup on the right side of my face today. Anyway, hope you like the makeup! :)

Step 1
Apply primer to your eyelids. Using a flat shader brush press a skincolored eyeshadow onto your lid. Also use the same eyeshadow as a highlight. Take a medium brown eyeshadow and sweep it into your crease with small circular motions.

Step 2
With a red lipliner draw a disrupted line along your upper lashline. End it with a little flick. To draw the little flick you have to sharpen your pencil a lot since lipliner pencils tend to be really soft.

Step 3
Fill in the gaps in the red line with a white eyepencil. I've used NYX jumbo pencil in "Milk" and an eyeliner brush to do this. You might have to reapply some red to create a crisp line between the red and the white.

Step 4
Fill in your eyebrows! I've gone a bit crazy and used the same red lipliner as before on my eyebrows as well, but you could go for a more natural color if you prefer.

Step 5
Line your upper and lower waterline with a soft black eyeliner pencil. Also put a little bit of the black pencil along your lower lashline and smudge it out to create a smokey look. Then, apply mascara and false eyelashes (my false eyelashes doesn't show up until next picture though ;)).

Step 6
Using lash glue, stick three red rhinestones to the area around the outer corner of your eye. Then, with a wet dark green eyeshadow draw two V-shapes in the way shown in the picture. To do this I've used a really, really thin craftstore brush and Make Up Store Mixing Liquid.

Step 7
Draw one more V-shape inside the V-shapes from the previous step, and then draw a little straight line sticking up from the middle of the internal V. Tadaa! You've created a mistletoe! ;)

Step 8
Apply bronzer on your cheekbones and a little bit of blush on the apples of your cheeks.
You could use a more natural lipcolor but I've decided to go all the way with the craziness and applied a bold red lip. If you chose to do a red lip just make sure it's the same red color as you've used on your eyebrows. Mismatching won't make anyone happy!

Tutorial: Gold and silver new years eve look

Hello cupcakes!

It's not too long left to Christmas and new years eve so I thought I'd do some holiday looks for you. :) The look I'm doing today is a really dramatic cat eye (you all know I love cat eyes) with gold, silver and rhinestones. Of course you can wear this look at Christmas as well but since it's more of a party look it's probably more suitable for new years eve. Anyway, hope you like it! :)

Let's start the tutorial! :D

Step 1
Prime your eyes. Put on pieces of Scotch tape on the outer corners of your eyes (apply it as if extending your lower lash line). Using a flat shader brush apply black eyeshadow starting form the outer corner of the tape sweeping inwards. The shape of the eyeshadow should be such, that when your eyes are open and you look straight forward the upper part of the shadow should be a straight line. Hope this explanation makes any sense ;)

Step 2
Fill in about two thirds of your eyelid with the black eyeshadow.

Step 3
Blend the upper part of the eyeshadow using the same shader brush as before (just wipe it off before blending). Sweep the brush carefully back and forth over the line to blend out the harsh edge. You should be careful not to overblend at this step since we want to keep the shape!

Step 4
Remove the tape and blend out the harsh edge by the same method as used in step 3. Also, apply some black under the lower lashline. Apply some NYX Jumbo Pencil "Milk" in the inner corner of the eye and blend it out into the black.

Step 5
Press some shimmery, golden eyeshadow onto the area where the black meets the white. Blend the gold out a bit into the black and into the white. In the inner corner of the eye apply some shimmery silver eyeshadow (or white if you prefer). The eyeshadows I've used are very fallout prone so I tapped off the excess off the brush before applying the colors to the eyelid.

Step 6
Apply a black eyeliner pencil to your upper and lower waterlines. Fill in your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil in a color that suits your natural brow color or one that is a couple of shades darker.
Add some highlighter beneath the brows. I've used a light yellowish, shimmery eyeshadow for this purpose (from the 120-palette).

Step 7

Apply a lengthening black mascara to your upper and lower lashes. On the lower lashes concentrate the color on the outer corner of the eye. Apply a pair of false eyelashes. Corner lashes such as Ardell #305 would be great with this look but I didn't have any at the moment so I used a full set.
Using lash glue, apply some golden and silvery rhinestones to the black shape. My thought was to apply more of the golden rhinestones than the silver ones because we have more gold on the eyelid than silver. Of course you can do the opposite as well :)

Step 8

Apply some concealer under your eyes, if needed. Add some rouge to the apples of your cheeks and drag the color along your cheekbones up towards the ears.
For lips I've used a red lipgloss and, since you don't want to hold back on new years eve, added some glitter to the center of the lips.

Photoshoot!

Hello!

Today I had a photoshoot with my dear friend Lisen. I woke up this morning feeling really uninspired but when it was time to put makeup on my model the inspiration just came to me. :) The result was great and I actually liked the pictures a lot too, although I normally think I suck at photographing. The magic trick was probably the lighting; we used the kind of fluorescent lights that's used for aquariums. It worked great and I could take my pictures without using a flash!

Sorry for the watermarks, I was just too happy with these pictures to let anybody steal them! ;)
