Pink Happy Monsters

Time for a fun manicure! :) It takes a bit of patience to do it but overall it is a very easy nail art look so don't be afraid to try it! :D

This look is inspired by Psychosandra's Happy Monsters manicure.

Next post will probably come with a perfectly wearable but yet a little more edgy look, so make sure to stop by here in the next few days! :)

Star Trek Manicure

Today I'm going to see Star  Trek Into Darkness. Iiiiihh!! To celebrate the occasion I made a manicure inspired by the Star Fleet uniforms from the original Star Trek series. Geeky? Hell yeah!

Scotty, Spock, Kirk, McCoy and Uhura. ;)

XD

Hope you enjoyed this post and see you again soon! :)

Depend #357

If Shrek would lend his name to a nail polish this would definitely be the shade! I bet princess Fiona could use it as a nude color polish. Haha! :P

Although this shade is definitely unique I don't know if I'm completely floored. It is definitely not a shade that I would ever call beautiful since it is rather, well, ugly. But somehow I can't help but liking it. :)

My cuticles are a disaster at the moment so let's focus on the manicure please... I hate when my hands dry out this time a year and this far I haven't found anything that helps.

Have you guys tried any of the new polishes from Depends spring 2013 collection? Which one is your favorite? :)

Thanks for reading! :D

Illamasqua Baptiste

Here is another purple beauty from Illamasqua. This time it is the nail polish Baptiste that was another item I received as a Christmas gift from my lovely boyfriend.
I hate wearing nail polish without a fast-drying top coat, and since my Seche Vite went all viscous on me a couple of days after Christmas, I decided to avoid nail polish until my new one had arrived. That's why I haven't posted any swatches or reviews on it yet. :) And speaking of fast-drying top coats, this time I got the one from Poshé insted of Seche Vite, since it is supposed to be better. Of course I will write a review on that one as well, some time.

Illamasqua's Baptiste is a dark shimmery purple which is nothing but gorgeous. I think it is a perfect adornment for both short and long nails and I find it classy and a little crazy in the same time, which is a winning combination.

Honestly, it is hard to find something to complain about when it comes to this nail polish. It is a great formula which is easy to work with and it dries quite fast. One of the nails started chipping after about 24 hours but I don't think it has anything to do with the polish itself since the others stayed just fine for yet another 24 hours. I must be cruel to my nails or something because nail polish tend to chip on me after only a couple of days... Or maybe that is normal. I don't know.

The only reason I won't give this nail polish 5/5 is because of the chipping. As I said I don't know if it is me being awfully careless with my nails or the actual polish, but I have tried polishes that has stayed perfect for up to 4 days...

As usual I would love to hear your thoughts on this product. :) Do you have it or plan to get it?

Thank you so much for reading and hope you'll have a lovely weekend!

Merry Christmas!

Here in Sweden we celebrate Christmas the 24th and not the 25th as I know many of you do. So today I am celebrating Christmas with Mr. Noire and Ester and I am very eager to give Mr. Noire his presents and see his reaction. :) Anyways, here's the look I'm wearing for Christmas!

I didn't feel like spending an eternity doing my makeup today so I went for something classic and elegant. A grey smokey eye, red lips and classic red nails.

Smokey smoke... And instead of a regular beauty mark I used a rhinestone. :)

Red lips and experimental pin up-ish hair. ;)

Blood red nails. :)

Green and Silver Nails and Youtube tip

So here's another nail polish post! :) As I might have mentioned become very into nail polish and nail art lately, and I am experimenting a lot with the few nail polishes I have at home.

The green polish I've used here is actually from Depend's 2011 Christmas collection but I think it's still available. Otherwise, any shimmery green will do! :)

The silver glitter is just a regular cosmetics glitter that I had lying around. I applied one coat of the holographic glitter polish Depend #335 and then with a brush lightly dusted on some silver glitter at the tips of my nails.

The inspiration to this look actually came from one of MissChievous's Youtube-tutorials that is great (I love the way she says the word "gold" by the way...!);

If you want to do a simple holiday manicure this video is definitely worth checking out! :)

Thanks for reading and hope you have a lovely day!

Depend #335

About a week ago I found this awesome glitter polish from Depend Cosmetics and I knew that I just had to get it. Whenever Christmas approaches I feel a great need for wearing glitter nail polish, for some strange (or, wait, maybe not so strange...) reason. Here, the glitter polish is applied over Ancient Ruby by Isadora.

Yes, I know the manicure is terrible and I suck at taking pictures of nail polish. I can hear the sound of the "Clean-your-cuticles-or-die"-girls coming after me like an angry mob right now. Haha! :P

Depend #335 is a holographic glitter polish in a clear base, which makes it perfect to put on top of other polishes. This mani consists of 1 layer Nail Tek Foundation II, 2 coats of Ancient Ruby (Isadora), 1 coat #335 (Depend) and 1 coat of the fast-drying topcoat from Seche Vite.

What I didn't like about this polish though, was that there are both small and big chunks of glitter in the bottle but when applied on the nails you are lucky if you get one or two of the larger chunks there. I want my glitter chunks to be of different sizes.

So, dear readers, what do you think of glitter polishes? Do you have any favorites that you can recommend?

Thank you for reading! :)

Strong and Healthy Nails

When the weather gets colder my nails always start to chip, split and get generally dry and brittle. Ugh! It's so annoying, and I'm sure many of you know exactly what I mean.
Luckily, there are a lot of products and tricks you can learn to nurse your nails back to health. :)

1. Clean your nails and cuticles
To get nails of good quality it might be a good idea to invest in a peeling that can be used to take away dead skin cells from the nail and cuticle area. Doing this, nail bed will get more oxygen (when it's not choked by dead skin...) and the new nail that grows out will be healthier.
At the moment, I'm using the Nail- and Cuticle Cleaner from Depend.

2. Nail oil
If you have dry nails that easily split or nails that are soft and weak then a nail oil is definitely worth trying! The one I'm using right now is the Myrrh oil by Depend Cosmetics. It is a great product with almond oil and vitamin E that really works miracles on my nails, when used regularly. Put a drop on your nail and massage it into the nail and the cuticle. A plus with this oil is also that it smells very good of orange.

3. Invest in a glass nail file!
Honestly, there is a huge difference in glass nail files and the more common, cheaper cardboard nail files! The glass nail file has a great deal smaller grit and is therefore much more gentle to your nails. Cardboard nail files always make my nails split.
And if you happen to get a split, file it down right away! Otherwise you risk cracking your nails even more.

4. Use a strengthening base coat
I have actually not tried this myself yet, but it does make sense, doesn't it? ;) The one I've heard a lot of good things about is the Foundation II by Nail Tek (which as far as I know is a cruelty-free company). I bought it on Ebay and hope it will land in my mailbox at the end of this week.

 $5 on Ebay

5. Rubber gloves are you best friends!
If you thought that washing the dishes with rubber gloves on your hands was something that only old ladies do it's time to think again! ;) Exposure to water and detergent will surely dry out your nails so protect your hands will cleaning the dishes.

What is your best tips for getting stronger nails?

Thank you for reading and big thanks to all of you who send me nice comments! :)

Ancient Ruby

First of all I want to give a big welcome-hug to all my new readers! I'm glad you've found your way here and I appreciate that you take your time reading my blogposts. :) And, of course, this goes for my old readers too, so a warm welcome-back-hug to you guys. ;)

I suck at painting my nails and I don't have the patient to sit still and wait while it dries. However, I'm getting more and more interested in nail art since it's yet another part of Makeup Wonderland. :)

This polish is from the new Isadora nail polish collection called Jewels of the Orient which consists of 10 gorgeous shades.

All of these shades are beautiful but the shade that particularly caught my eye was Ancient Ruby which is a deep burgundy with a purple tint. It is the perfect vampy claw-polish for dark and rainy autumn nights! :)

My nails are as short and boring as ever and definitely not perfectly painted, but I love this color and I'm eager to show it to you. ^_^ This first picture is taken with flash while the following are taken without it.

In not-too-good lightning conditions this polish looks black with an evil red sheen to it *purrrr... purrrr...*.

Other vampy reds that want me to take them home...

That's all for this post! Thank you so much for reading and hope you found this interesting. :)
