Everyday look: Classic

Very well, here comes the second of the looks created out of the "tutorial cards" (or whatever you want to call them...) that comes with the Too Faced Natural eye palette.

It is kind of a nice look although I think it is a bit too shimmery for my taste. To make this look a little more dramatic I added some black eyeliner, which was not in the instructions. I thought I would hate to apply a shimmery eyeshadow all the way up to my brows so I felt very brave trying this look out. It doesn't look as tacky as I had expected, though, and I kind of like the result.

Looks in this kind of color scheme makes blue eyes really pop. Push-Up is such a delicious color but it's a real bummer that Erotica barely shows up at all in the crease.

Glossy red lips is something that starts to become a regular part of my everyday looks. I imagine that bright red gloss makes my lips look fuller but that might be something that is merely just that - imagination. I don't know. I like it anyway. :)

By the way... I have a BIG problem with my foundation (the Illamasqua Skin Base) at the moment. My skin and my foundation have decided that they will not talk to each other anymore which results in my skin becoming extremely oily and gross. It's terrible! The only thing I can do is to skip the foundation and just use a face primer or nothing at all on my face during the day. :(

Anyways, thank you for reading! :)

The Naughty Christmas Elf

This is going to be a perfectly wearable daytime look suitable for work... Just kidding! :D One of my readers asked if I could do a fairy or elf-inspired makeup tutorial and since that I have been thinking about elves and fairies a lot. Since it's almost Christmas the natural choice was of course to do a crazy Christmas elf look. :)

I didn't use contact lenses for this look, because I don't own any at the moment, but if you are going to use contacts I advice you to put them in before doing your makeup. Sometimes when putting in contacts the eyes can get irritated and start watering, and you wouldn't want to ruin your eye makeup, would you?

I can tell you that I probably never will use liquid eyeliner for my eyebrows again. Ever. It is extremely hard to get a straight line even if you have mapped out the shape with a white eyeliner pencil, and cleaning up afterwards just takes unnecessary extra time.

Now let's get to the tutorial! As in my latest post I have to apologize for the crappy lighting in the pictures and the somewhat inaccurate colors.

Step 1. Map out your cut crease with a white eyeliner pencil.

Step 2. Fill in the shape with Nyx Jumbo pencil in Milk. If you're worried about fallout you can do this step after you have applied the green and red eyeshadows.

Step 3. Apply a dark green (or black) base, mapping out the shape you want. I've used Envy by Makeup Geek, which is a dark green even if the camera picks it up as black.

Step 4. Above the green, apply a warm medium brown. The one I've used is Purely naked by Makeup Geek. This is going to work as our transition color between the red eyeshadow and the skin.

Step 5. Now, apply a Christmasy green on top of the dark green base. I didn't have a green that looked exactly the way I wanted so I used a mixture between Humid by M.A.C. and Ben Nye's pigment Chartreuse. Can anyone recommend a cruelty-free eyeshadow that looks something like this?  :)

Step 6.  Apply a highly pigmented red eyeshadow such as Sugarpill's Love+ with a small (read teeny tiny) eyeshadow brush. Blend out but do not overblend.

Step 7. Eyeliner pencil on your upper and lower waterlines...

Step 8. Apply your foundation, concealer and powder. Use a red and green gel liner (or liquid eyeliner) to draw a candy cane line along your lower lashline. I'm afraid there are no shortcuts here, you have to muster your patience and draw these by hand. The liners I've used are Poison and Mystic by Makeup Geek. On top of Mystic I put the eyeshadow Envy to darken the color.
I also used Poison to sharpen the edge between the green and the red eyeshadows.

Step 9. Using a black liquid liner (or gel liner...) draw a rather thick line along your upper lash line and extend it into a long wing, following your candy cane liner.

Step 10. Clean the candy cane line with makeup remover and concealer. You want it to be crisp and sharp. Apply mascara and false eyelashes. Draw on/fill in your eyebrows (if you're as bad as I am on drawing them on with liquid eyeliner you probably will have to clean it up afterwards with makeup remover and concealer...). Apply a green rhinestone at the outermost point of the shape. :)

Step 11. Apply a red lipstick (and your contacts, if you haven't done so already...) and you're done! Naughtiest Christmas elf ever. ;)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

So there you go, bold and crazy Christmas look with a lot of darkness hidden underneath those bright eyeshadows. :) Hope you like it!

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day!

Monthly theme: Maxi skirts

Since I've been planning this outfit post for quite a long time now, this months Monthly theme couldn't be more convenient. :) A couple of years ago I became quite obsessed about long, gothic skirts in tulle, velvet or lace. In my opinion they are the ultimate gothic glamourous item.

This skirt comes from Odium Clothing which Swedish based webshop that sells alternative clothing and accessories. I was lucky to get hold of it second hand though for about half the price, and since I'm the kind of girl who loves to buy second hand stuff I was very happy about this. :)
Also, now it's discontinued so the only way to get it is the second hand market...

The most irritating thing about long skirt is that when you are short you always have to take them up. I think I had to take away about 15cm (6 inches!) from this one!
And, haha, don't mind my hair! I am trying to grow out a part of my side cut so it looks a bit strange right now! :P

Loads of tulle makes this skirt a very glamourous piece of clothing! It can be used for more classy outfits as well as everyday occasions. :)

The corset is called Bathory and comes from Tokill4 . It was my payment for the fashion show I worked at in May this year. :) It is black velvet and I really like it. One thing that bugs me about overbust corsets though is that it pushes my boobs up a little bit too high, in a very unflattering way, when laced really tightly... :P

I got this necklace as a Christmas gift from my mother last year and I love it; not only is it pretty it has an interesting history as well. This necklace is a guardian angel manufactured by a woman whose child has died from cancer and the income from these necklaces goes to cancer research!

And last but not least, shoesies! :D I found these shoes in a thrift store (as I said, I love shopping second hand items...) a couple of weeks ago and since I needed a pair of warm shoes that are pretty as well, I couldn't resist buying them. :D

Well, that's all for this time! Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post although it isn't makeup related! :)

Golden Glow

I wanted to do a "wearable" look today that most people could pull off (at least as a party look if you think it's too harsh for everyday). The reason for this is mainly that I needed a picture to use when applying for a job and I needed it to be "neutral" and not too eccentric. I still wanted to feel like me though so a little darkness must be allowed. :P

Hope you like the look! :)

As a base I applied the gel liner Rave by Makeup Geek. It is the perfect "mushroom" base; shimmery metallic taupe that works great for brownish grey smokey eyes like this. :) It is very pretty on it's own but to enhance the shimmer a bit I applied the eyeshadow Moondust (also by Makeup Geek) on the lid.

Okay, don't freak out now, the piercings will be back! ;) As I said, I had to take a photo for job application purposes and since many working places have a no-piercing policy I figured it would be better if I took them out for this photo.

Glossy, raspberry red lips finishes off this look. To achieve this lip look, first fill in your lips with a bright red lip-pencil, then apply the liquid lipstick Cherry tart by e.l.f. on top of it. Smells good and looks fantastic! :)

Christmas is drawing closer every day and I am just about to start doing looks suitable for dark December nights. I've got a few ideas already. :)
I am also planning an outfit post some time this week!

Thank you for reading and hope you've had a lovely weekend!
