Paranormal Encounters

At the end of April I wrote about Illamasqua's new collection Paranormal, which certainly contains a lot of goodies that most makeup lovers would love to sink their fangs into. Although I haven't tried any of the products yet, I got very inspired by the looks in this collection and decided to recreate one of them. :)

Coral is a great choice if you want to make green eyes pop.

Purple lips matches flawlessly with coral eyes. I don't know why but I have been very inspired by this color combo lately.

I don't know if orange eyebrows are my cup of tea but they where essential for an accurate recreation of this look. :)

Step 1. After priming your eyes, trace your crease with a warm midtone brown. I used Purely naked by Makeup Geek. This will work as our transition color.

Step 2. Apply a warm coral or copper shade to your entire lid. Blend it like a maniac, using a skin tone eyeshadow around the edges.

Step 3. Do your foundation and lighten your brows with concealer. Finish with a powder on the areas where you tend to get most shiny.

Step 4. Fill in your brows with a burnt orange. The one I used is also from Makeup Geek and it's called Chickadee.

Step 5. Now, dust a soft wash of shimmery eyeshadow over your lids. I used Shimma shimma by Makeup Geek.

Step 6. Concentrate the shimmer on your inner corners, browbones and center of the lids. To accentuate the shine even more apply the Jumbo Pencil in Milk by N.Y.X. underneath.

Step 7. Dip Illamasqua's medium pencil in Sophie into black gel liner and line the inner rims of your eyes as well as the lower lash line.

Step 8. Using a white eyeliner line your upper lash line starting at the inner corner and fading it so that it ends softly about 2/3 of the way.

Step 9. Curl your lashes and apply a lot of mascara. I chose not to apply false lashes because the model in my inspirational picture does not appear to have any.

Inspirational picture:

I sincerely hope you liked my take on this look! For a very long time now I have been planning to do a series of looks inspired by Illamasqua's different collections, and I might start that series some time soon, actually. :)

I'm also thinking about doing a Q&A post where you guys can ask whatever you want (makeup related or not) but I'm not sure about that. Do you have any questions that you would like me to answer? :)

Thanks for reading!

Everyday look: Classic

Very well, here comes the second of the looks created out of the "tutorial cards" (or whatever you want to call them...) that comes with the Too Faced Natural eye palette.

It is kind of a nice look although I think it is a bit too shimmery for my taste. To make this look a little more dramatic I added some black eyeliner, which was not in the instructions. I thought I would hate to apply a shimmery eyeshadow all the way up to my brows so I felt very brave trying this look out. It doesn't look as tacky as I had expected, though, and I kind of like the result.

Looks in this kind of color scheme makes blue eyes really pop. Push-Up is such a delicious color but it's a real bummer that Erotica barely shows up at all in the crease.

Glossy red lips is something that starts to become a regular part of my everyday looks. I imagine that bright red gloss makes my lips look fuller but that might be something that is merely just that - imagination. I don't know. I like it anyway. :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the way... I have a BIG problem with my foundation (the Illamasqua Skin Base) at the moment. My skin and my foundation have decided that they will not talk to each other anymore which results in my skin becoming extremely oily and gross. It's terrible! The only thing I can do is to skip the foundation and just use a face primer or nothing at all on my face during the day. :(

Anyways, thank you for reading! :)

Natural Eye: Day

Here is the first look that I made out of the "tutorial cards" that were included in the Too Faced Natural Eye Eyeshadow Collection.

Day-look tutorial card... Instructions are easy to follow so if you're new to makeup this kit is great to start with. :)

This is my version (the 7 o'clock in the morning version...) of the look. :) I combined it with red lips mainly because I had a new lipgloss that I wanted to try, but also to add some color to all the neutralness.

I usually don't wear false lashes for work but when I have ten minutes or so to spare in the morning I like to put on a pair of natural ones.

Face
*Skin base foundation 02 (Illamasqua)
*Loose powder (Isadora)
*Wonderblush Cleopatra (Make Up Store)

Eyebrows

*False lashes #601 (Red Cherry)

Lips
*Moisturizing Lipgloss Diva Red (Isadora)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would have loved to combine this look with a glossy, dark purple lip but that wouldn't have been very work-appropriate for me so I red lips was the second choice. :)
Hope you like the look and don't find it too boring...

Have a great Friday everyone! :) I'll be back during the weekend with a contribution to the Monthly Theme at Sophistique Noir !
