Crystal Cateye

I have had a great week on work! :) Everyone - both customers and co-workers - are being so nice and it is great to be able to do something that I'm good at and that I really like doing. Since I work very long days I haven't had time to post this look until now. I actually wore it a week ago... But better late than never, I guess! :P

The rhinestones are inspired by how one of the models at heavyred.com wears her makeup. :) I don't know if I liked it a lot though... Looks good on her but I didn't quite feel comfortable with it.

Photoshopped green eyes...

Nude lips and a really playful hairdo. :) I really should wear my hair like this more often because I loved it. It isn't that obvious when looking at the picture but I have put up my hair in pigtails. Very Harley Quinn. :)

Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Inspired

The past week I have had severely irritated eyes and have taken precautions with wearing makeup in case of an eye infection. Fortunately, it seems to be allergies, which I often have problems with and yesterday I was very pleased to play with my lovely makeup collection again. :D

This look is inspired by this insanely gorgeous makeup by Alex Box, which was created for the Human Fundamentalism collection by Illamasqua:

As you can see I haven't tried to recreate this look, simply done my own version of it. :)

Since I don't have any of the Illamasqua products (except for the Skin Base Foundation...) that probably were used in this look I had to use my Sugarpill eyeshadows instead.

For the lips I wanted to go for a more pinkish-red (or reddish pink...) so I combined Fearless and Elegant by Makeup Geek to get a satisfactory shade.

I debated for a long time wether I should have eyebrows for this look or stick to the original look without them, but eventually I came to the conclusion that light brown eyebrows would look great. And I kind of like the result.

On Monday I will start a trainee job at the makeup department of a big department store. :D I look very much forward to it but in the same time it will mean less time for blogging, which of course is a bit sad. But I will definitely be back as soon as I can with new looks, reviews and random babble. :)

Have a great day and thanks for reading! :D

Dark gold (but definitely wearable...)

As Christmas fades away I suppose people are getting tired of golds, reds and greens. So am I, but I am itching to play around with my Goldilux loose eyeshadow so you have to bear with me this time. ;)

This is a soft and subtle look that will suit anyone, goth or not. Since gold is a color that normally don't belong in the average goth's makeup wardrobe I figured I'd combine it with long black eyelashes and a dark purple lip to create a more mysterious and unique look.

Since Goldilux is such a highly reflective pigment I figured it would be perfect to use it as an inner corner highlight. When you move your head Goldilux will catch the light from different angels, resulting in a tremendous highlighting effect.

On the lid I've used a dark and a medium brown to create a soft and natural smokey eye. Instead of gold you could use silver or why not a bright blue or green? :)

On my lips I'm wearing Kontrol by Illamasqua. Read the review here.

Step 1. Fill in your eyebrows and prime your eyes. Powder your eyelids above your crease to make the eyeshadow easier to blend.

Step 2. Dark brown in the outer corner of the eye. Drag it into the crease and fade it out towards your nose.

Step 3. Medium brown on your lid and underneath your eye.

Step 4. Highlight the inner corner and underneath your brows with NYX Milk.

Step 5. Line waterlines and upper lash line with black eyeliner pencil. Blend out the pencil in the upper lash line with black eyeshadow.

Step 6. Apply white eyeshadow underneath the brows and gold in the inner corner.

Step 7. Mascara and false eyelashes.

Step 8. Purple lipstick.

I hope this tutorial has been helpful and that you like the look. Thank you for reading. :)

Blog banner inspired look

Lately I've been feeling very un-confident with my makeup work and the pictures I take. Whenever I've done a look it felt like it wasn't good enough and that the pictures I took were just insufficient. I guess all artists have such periods some times.
The other day however I did a look that actually turned out the way I intended it to and the pictures I took of it were not bad at all! I hardly had to edit them, even. :)

This is the look that I will be wearing at New Years Eve (at least that's what I'm planning to wear right now...). I am not going to any fancy party but glittery makeup is always fun. :)

And the glitter actually showed up on the pictures! :D *YAY!*

I figured nude lips would look best with this look.

On my lips I have Darling by Makeup Geek, which is by far my favorite nude lipstick, and on top of that the lipgloss Edelweiss by Face Stockholm (which tastes and smells terrible...).

Step 1. Put some Scotch tape on the outer corner of your eye. This will help creating a crisp edge to the eyeshadow. :) Then, apply a black gel liner as a base on your whole lid. Blend out the edge slightly.

Step 2. On top of the black base, apply a matte black eyeshadow.

Step 3. Above the black, apply a shimmery medium purple/plum. This is going to act as a transition color, which will make the vibrant, matte purple we are adding later a lot easier to blend. The eyeshadow I've used for this step is Sensuous by Makeup Geek.

Step 4. Now, take a vibrant matte purple (Poison plum by Sugarpill, for instance...) and apply it over the transition color. The only way to get a perfect gradient here is to apply, blend, apply, blend... etc. until you are satisfied.

Step 5. As a highlight color I used the lavender purple Wisteria by Makeup Geek. Apply on your browbone and blend it downwards. Then, you can add some more Poison plum blend, add Wisteria again and blend. Do so until the gradient is smooth and even.

Step 6. Remove the tape and clean up underneath your eyes.

Step 7. Black eyeliner and black eyeshadow on the lower lash line.

Step 8. Apply some of Poison plum under the eye and blend out. Apply foundation, concealer and powder.

Step 9. Mascara, false eyelashes and then some gunmetal glitter on the lid. There are several methods of making the glitter stick to your skin, but the one I like best is to first put on some glitter eyeliner and before it dries pat on some dry glitter.

Step 10. With a liquid eyeliner draw a series of "sloppy" circles (that is, don't bother if they are not completely round...), C-shapes and dots.

Step 11. Fill the dots with glitter.

Step 12. Fill in your eyebrows and you're done!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So what about you guys, what kind of makeup are you going to wear at New Years Eve? :) Will you go for something with glitter? Something colorful?

Thanks a lot for reading and hope you have a lovely day! :)

Monthly theme: Maxi skirts

Since I've been planning this outfit post for quite a long time now, this months Monthly theme couldn't be more convenient. :) A couple of years ago I became quite obsessed about long, gothic skirts in tulle, velvet or lace. In my opinion they are the ultimate gothic glamourous item.

This skirt comes from Odium Clothing which Swedish based webshop that sells alternative clothing and accessories. I was lucky to get hold of it second hand though for about half the price, and since I'm the kind of girl who loves to buy second hand stuff I was very happy about this. :)
Also, now it's discontinued so the only way to get it is the second hand market...

The most irritating thing about long skirt is that when you are short you always have to take them up. I think I had to take away about 15cm (6 inches!) from this one!
And, haha, don't mind my hair! I am trying to grow out a part of my side cut so it looks a bit strange right now! :P

Loads of tulle makes this skirt a very glamourous piece of clothing! It can be used for more classy outfits as well as everyday occasions. :)

The corset is called Bathory and comes from Tokill4 . It was my payment for the fashion show I worked at in May this year. :) It is black velvet and I really like it. One thing that bugs me about overbust corsets though is that it pushes my boobs up a little bit too high, in a very unflattering way, when laced really tightly... :P

I got this necklace as a Christmas gift from my mother last year and I love it; not only is it pretty it has an interesting history as well. This necklace is a guardian angel manufactured by a woman whose child has died from cancer and the income from these necklaces goes to cancer research!

And last but not least, shoesies! :D I found these shoes in a thrift store (as I said, I love shopping second hand items...) a couple of weeks ago and since I needed a pair of warm shoes that are pretty as well, I couldn't resist buying them. :D

Well, that's all for this time! Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post although it isn't makeup related! :)
