Spring Color Block

Another competition entry look that I did, this time for the Monthly Challenge at MakeupGeek.com. :) I love creating a look based on a specific theme and with clear restrictions and this month the task is to create a look based upon this picture:

And here is the look I did:

I suppose my look can't live up to the bright, radiant colors of that beautiful flower (who is the photographer by the way and why isn't he/she credited?) but to me it is colorful enough. :)

Who said bold eyes and bold lips couldn't go together? ;)

Right now, I have a lot of products that I'm going to try out and give my opinions about. And speaking of opinions; I use Twitter rather frequently these days so if you want to hear some random ramble about what I'm doing and strange comments about all kinds of geeky stuff you should definitely follow me there.

Thank you for reading! :)

New Law Against Animal Testing

Today the new law against animal testing for cosmetic purposes will be applied within the EU. As I understand it, all cosmetic products that are sold within the EU will have to be free from animal testing in all stages of the products development. This sounds too good to be true and I bet it is.

What about the companies that sells their products in China? They will still have to test their products on animals there, because Chinese laws requires this. How does that work out with the new law?

I'm pretty sure that there are at least a dozen loop-holes that the DO-list companies can worm their way through to keep from changing their policies. Or am I wrong? Is this really the beginning of a cruelty-free cosmetic industry?

Your thoughts on the subject please!

Lacey Eyes

Right now, Makeupbee is running a competition in collaboration with Camille la vie and Makeup Forever. The purpose is to create a look inspired by one of the prom dresses by Camille la vie, and checking these dresses out it is impossible not to get inspired by the tremendous variety of colors, glitters and textures.

The dress that tickled my fantasy the most was this cute little pink creation adorned with black lace, and I decided to create a look based upon its most prominent features.

First, I considered putting lace fabric along my eye but I thought it would be fun just to draw the lace with liquid eyeliner.

This eye look is best matched with bubble gum pink lips and pink blush. As a blush I used Sugarpill's Dollipop eyeshadow.

Review: Make Up Store Drama Mascara

Here comes another mascara review. This is a mascara that I got for Christmas but I've never come to writing a review on it until now. I have no idea why because I think this mascara is rather good.

I have tried one of the mascaras by Make Up Store before, the one for sensitive eyes, and was not very impressed. This one, however, was definitely a positive surprise.

Drama mascara is a volumizing mascara that contains fibers, which makes it unsuitable for people with sensitive eyes or people wearing contact lenses. My eyes are sensitive, though, and doesn't seem to disagree with this mascara.

This mascara gives dramatic volume to my lashes and still manages to keep them separated, which is exactly what my (and probably everybody else's...) dream mascara would do.

The brush is a dense "hair brush".

The thing I don't like with this mascara is that it is fantastic in the beginning but then, after a couple of weeks it starts to degrade in quality. The formula becomes thicker and it is harder to get clump-free lashes and a smooth application. This will definitely take the grade down one bat.

Price: 210 SEK/ 12 ml
Worth it? Without doubt!

My usual question; have you tried this product and what did you think of it? :)

Thanks for reading and hope to see you soon!

Everyday look: Classic

Very well, here comes the second of the looks created out of the "tutorial cards" (or whatever you want to call them...) that comes with the Too Faced Natural eye palette.

It is kind of a nice look although I think it is a bit too shimmery for my taste. To make this look a little more dramatic I added some black eyeliner, which was not in the instructions. I thought I would hate to apply a shimmery eyeshadow all the way up to my brows so I felt very brave trying this look out. It doesn't look as tacky as I had expected, though, and I kind of like the result.

Looks in this kind of color scheme makes blue eyes really pop. Push-Up is such a delicious color but it's a real bummer that Erotica barely shows up at all in the crease.

Glossy red lips is something that starts to become a regular part of my everyday looks. I imagine that bright red gloss makes my lips look fuller but that might be something that is merely just that - imagination. I don't know. I like it anyway. :)

By the way... I have a BIG problem with my foundation (the Illamasqua Skin Base) at the moment. My skin and my foundation have decided that they will not talk to each other anymore which results in my skin becoming extremely oily and gross. It's terrible! The only thing I can do is to skip the foundation and just use a face primer or nothing at all on my face during the day. :(

Anyways, thank you for reading! :)
