Harley Quinn

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks! :D

First of all I want to thank you all for the heart-warming comments you write on my posts! :) I really appreciate it! <3

When I think of the combination of the colors black and red I immediately come to think of Harley Quinn, who is one of my favorite cartoon characters. I haven't heard if she's going to be in the upcoming Batman movie or not, but let's hope so. :)
And hey, I'm wearing my Catwoman t-shirt today too, so I guess this is some kind of Batman-day to me.

And here's my crazy Harley Quinn inspired makeup look. :) I did a similar one last year but I think that this one turned out a little better. It's too bad that the background on the pictures are so dark that you can't see my Harley-style pigtails (that I managed to do despite the shortness of my hair).

Here you can see a little bit of my Catwoman t-shirt. I should have taken a picture of the whole outfit but I don't have a full-length mirror so it wasn't possible. Maybe I'll post one later...

And here's the closeup. I will actually go outside with this makeup so we'll see how many people's eyes will pop out in shock. :P

Shadowtime

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks! :)

Everyone who knows anything about goth has heard of Siouxsie Sioux, who is the inspiration for this look. And those of you who haven't heard of her, check her out, because she's a incredibly cool lady! :)

So, without further ado, let me show you my Siouxsie Sioux inspired look!

The typical Siouxsie look consists of dark, Egyptian style eyes and red lips (with a pointed Cupid's bow). The eyebrows are quite straight with a sharp point downwards in the inner parts. The inner part of the eyelid is also marked with dark eyeshadow.

Here's an unedited picture (the one below the text...). :P (Well, the image didn't pop out of the camera with my blog's url stamped on it, but the rest is unedited...)

And here, of course, is the usual closeup eye-picture! :) This is a typical example on a makeup look that looks better when you see the whole look rather than just a closeup on the eye. At least that's what I think.

Vampire nails

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks!

As I mentioned yesterday today's post is going to be a nail-post, which is something that I don't usually do. I often ask myself why I don't do nail-posts more often, since there are so many ways to decorate your nails. Truth is, though, that I don't have patience enough to do a good job on my nails. I don't know if it's my lack of patience or if there's something wrong with my nails, but on me nail-polish takes forever to dry. Now, I know some of you immediately comes to think of the fast-drying top-coat from Seche Vite, but even that one requires at least an hour to get completely dry on my nails. Strange, isn't it? O_o

Anyways, with all those complaints about nail-polish said, let's move on to the actual post. :)

A few days ago I watched a very good nail-art video tutorial on
Youtube, explaining how to get gradient nails. I got really excited about this and decided to try the look myself. :)

Here's the video:

It was a bit harder than it looked though and, since I can barely paint my nails in the regular way without messing up, a lot of cleaning was required afterwards. The result? Well, not too bad for a first-timer. ;)

I couldn't get the gradient so smooth though, but I guess I'll have to practice.

The red nail-polish is from Depend and the black one is Orly's Liquid vinyl.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the way, I just wanted to show you a no-special-occasion-present that Mr. Noire gave me yesterday.  Bird-skull earrings! :) I love them!

Okay, so that's all for this post. :)

Have a nice day!

Madam Noire goes punk

Hey there!

So here's another one of my red and black looks! This one is inspired by the punk subculture. When I think of punk I think of a somewhat carefree "I don't give a fuck"-attitude and that's what I wanted to create with this makeup look. So, instead of being neat I just threw it on, getting a messy, punk-style look. And believe me; it was very hard to do a messy look! :P

---------------------------------------------------------------

First, I wasn't sure about the glitter. I don't know if glitter is too punk. But, it really adds to the messiness of the look. :) And couldn't punk chicks like glitter?
If you want an even more messy look, DON'T set the kohl pencil on your lower lash line with black eyeshadow. Then it will smudge and be a lot messier!

Red and black lips! :)

And here comes the fabulous outfit. :P I own four clothing items that are not black, but I almost never wear them (except for this skirt). The t-shirt is actually something that I borrowed from Mr. Noire. ;) I think it's really cute!

Have a nice day everyone! :)

Red and black week! :D

Hello everybody!

Today the red and black week event is starting on http://www.sophistiquenoir.com/ ! Since I love theme-posts of course I'm going to participate. :)

My first red and black post is going to be an eyelook that includes red
eyeshadow but is still quite subtle.

I really love red eyeshadow but sometimes I find it a little hard to use. In this look however, the red eyeshadow is used in a way so that it doesn't take over too much. At least that's my opinion on the look. I'm pretty sure that many of you would never wear this as an everyday look or maybe
not even as a look for a night out. :)

But anyway, if you want to try out a look with red eyeshadow but are
afraid it will look too much, this is a good way to start. You can skip
adding red underneath your eyes to give it an even more subtle look.

When using red eyeshadow I think it's very important to line your eyes with a lot of black, otherwise your eyes will look kind of infected. Blend the black into the red to create a nice gradient.

Red eyeshadow looks good on all eye colors, I just made mine brown today since I was in a editing mood. :P I've been thinking a lot about getting a pair of contact lenses lately, but since my budget is rather slim at the moment I'll have to do with changing my eye color in PS instead.

I think red eyeshadow is nicest when the color is very intense closer to the lash-line and then fades out into the skin color. To help achieving this effect, sweep a white or skin colored eyeshadow over your lids first.

Combine your red eye-look with a pair of white contacts and black lipstick for the ultimate gothic look! :)
