Imperfection

While the looks I posted previously during this week has been very dramatic, artsy and almost completely unwearable this one is going to be of the more wearable kind. At least it is wearable if you like dramatic makeup in bright colors. ;)

This look is inspired by the speckled liner that Illamasqua had on one of their promo pictures for their collection I'mperfection. I wanted to spice it up a bit using red as a base instead of a neutral color. :)

Red lips goes well with this look and the one I'm using is one of the lipstick pens (comparable to Clinique's chubby sticks) by Lumene. I haven't had time to do a proper review of it yet but it will come.

Step 1. Prime your eyes and fill in your eyebrows.

Step 2. Apply NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk in a soft layer all over your eyelid. Don't forget to share the love with your lower lids!

Step 3. Define your crease slightly with a light brown eyeshadow. This will be our transition color that will make it a lot easier to blend the red eyeshadow into our skin tone. If you have darker skin just use a medium or darker brown instead. :)

Step 4. Pop on some Love+ and blend to your heart's content!

Step 5. A thick, winged eyeliner will create a base for the speckles. Line your waterline with white eyeliner.

Step 6. Now, do some black speckles along the liner. Due to my eye shape I found it more suitable to concentrate the speckles on the outer part.

Step 7. I haven't had the pleasure to make acquaintance with Illamasqua's Scribe yet so I'm using Kryolan's white AquaColor to do the white speckles.

Step 8. Mascara and false eyelashes.

  6. I love how you do red eyeshadow. It's always just the right amount of red (I tend to overdo it!). The speckles are a great touch, and I'm happy to see the Red, Black and White combo carrying on!

  7. I don't know how you manage to be so incredibly creative and precise with eye makeup. I can barely apply mascara and eyeliner. I love looking at your posts. When I try and do something it's like "Hey! Poked yourself in the eye with the mascara wand, time to start tearing up! Hey, turns out you only own 12 shades of eyeshadow- also you apply it like a kid with a giant crayon learning to write her name."
Even so- just reading about the $1 elf eyeshadow primer? OMG so helpful...
