Famous

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks!

Now, as I promised, I will do a tutorial on an eye makeup look to match one of the Makeup Geek lipsticks that I reviewed some days back. This look will be a regular, everyday look and as I know not all people like to wear heavy, gothic makeup this is more of a light look, that could suit everybody.

Purple is a color that looks good combined with most eye colors and the purples I'm using for this look are pretty muted so that they will give room for the bright, magenta lipstick, Famous, to shine in all its glory.

Here's the look we will create:

Personally I find these kinds of looks pretty boring to photograph because they are so simple, but they are extremely elegant and beautiful in real life!

Step 1. Apply your regular foundation routine and a primer to your eyelids (and eyebrows if you don't have eyebrows on your own.

Step 2. Apply Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk in a thin layer all over your lid. This white base will help the color of the eyeshadow pop. If you want a more transparent result, then you could skip this step altogether.

Step 3. Apply a muted, dark purple to the outer part of your eyelids and blend it out. Be careful not to take it too far down when applying the eyeshadow to your lower lid, since it will make you look tired. The shadow I've used is Purple rain by Makeup Geek.

Step 4. On the center part of the lid, place a soft lilac eyeshadow and blend it into the darker one. I've used Wisteria by Makeup Geek. Also apply it in the center of your lower lid.

Step 5. Now, line your upper and lower waterline with a black eyeliner pencil. I've used the eye kohl Smolder by M.A.C. since it's soft and easy to work with. Take a sharp, angled brush and pick up some of the kohl liner on it. Press the liner into the upper and lower lash lines, making sure there are no gaps showing through between the eyelashes.
In this step I've also added a matte white eyeshadow as a highlight to the inner corner and on my browbone.

Step 6. Curl your lashes and apply your favorite black mascara. Then, I've filled in my eyebrows using Purple rain (Makeup Geek) again. I know some of you might think this is a too dark or too purple color for you so feel free to use whatever color matches your own brow color. :)

Step 7. Now, apply a bright magenta color on your lips to finish the look. As I already mentioned in the introduction to this post I've used Famous by Makeup Geek.
This eyemakeup will also look great with black lips, that by now has started to become my signature look.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So that was the tutorial of today! :) We'll see what I'll cook up for the other two lipsticks, but I think I have some ideas at least. It will be fun! :D

I hope you all are having a great summer and that you will stop by here again soon.

Tropical psychosis

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks!

The look I'm showing you today is for another Makeupbee-contest with a tropical theme. :) I really love doing theme looks so of course I wanted to participate! If you like my look you can vote for it here.
I think you have to be a member at Makeupbee to vote though (don't worry it's free!).

The bluish-green eyeliner I've used is called Aqualine and is one of the Liquidlast liners by M.A.C. The name, Liquidlast, is really appropriate since once you've put the liner on it is really hard to remove. I guess you need a kick-ass makeup remover for it but mine is pretty mediocre and although it's meant for waterproof makeup it doesn't defeat the Liquidlast liners.

I think natural eyelashes are nicest combined with this look but maybe feather-lashes or something like that would have looked cool too. :)

For the lips I've used a black eyeliner and as a lip highlight put on some of Makeup Geek's Fearless which is a beautiful hot pink shade (though, it looks pretty red on this picture...).

Tomorrow, or whenever I have the time to edit the pictures, I will do a tutorial on a simple everyday look that can be combined with the lipstick Famous by Makeup Geek. If you haven't read about these lipsticks already, you are welcome to do so in my review.

Have a nice day everybody! :)

Review: Makeup Geek lipsticks

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks!

This has been a busy week for me, having a visitor from out of town, but I have done a couple of looks for you that I will be posting during this upcoming week. I hope you all have had a great weekend! :)

Today, there won't be any look but a review on three of the Makeup Geek lipsticks that have recently been launched. I am planning to do a tutorial series with these lipsticks, matching them with suitable eye makeup-looks. :) Does that sound like a good idea?

All of the lipsticks are smooth and perfectly creamy, and still highly pigmented. I usually have problem with lipsticks drying out my lips but I find these more moisturizing than most other lipsticks I have tried. The durability is high and the lipstick stays creamy until the end.
The only minus (except that they don't have one in black... yet ;) ) I can give the Makeup Geek lipsticks is that I don't really like the smell. I rarely like the smell of lipsticks (or other beauty products) and these smell like... well, like typical lipsticks, I guess. I'm sure you won't have any problems with it though because the fragrance is very subtle. :)

This is what the packaging looks like. Cute, isn't it? :)

At the Makeup Geek website Fearless is described as a "hot pink with a mix of purple", and I couldn't agree more. It is a beautiful pink shade that feels very bold and bright on the lips, just as the name of the lipstick suggests.

A fun magenta color that seems to be the shade that falls exactly between pink and purple. I had hoped it would be more purple but it's very pinkish.

For me this is the perfect nude color, which on the Makeup Geek website is described as a "muted pink with a hint of purple". I love it! :)

Those are my opinions about the Makeup Geek lipsticks. :) I'm definitely going to try and collect them all! Have any of you tried them yet? What did you think?

As I said before, I will do some looks with these lipsticks during the upcoming week. :)

I hope you found this post helpful!

Have a nice day!

This however, does not in any way affect my opinions about the product(s) and I assure you that all of the opinions stated are my own. You, my dear reader, are my priority number one and I would never recommend a product that I do not think is worth spending money on. Frankenstein's bride

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks! :)

Since I've shaved off most of my eyebrows I figured I'd do something fun and creative with them and in this post you will see one of the looks that I came up with! Somehow the look reminded me a lot of Frankenstein's monster, maybe because the brows reminds of stitches and because of the sickly green color I used on the inner parts of my lids.

The green shadow is Shimmermint by Makeup Geek, which, as the name suggests, is a shimmery minty green. It is very pretty on its own (to the right) but when applied over NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk (shown to the left) the color pops and becomes even more pretty.

At first sight this doesn't look very gothic, but combined with black and other dark colors it is very zombieesque.

Here's an example on how this shadow can be used for a gothic look. :)

Madam Noire d'Antoinette

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks! :)

Today I'm actually doing a tutorial, which is something that I haven't done in a long while now. The inspiration for this look comes from Marie Antoinette and a contest that Lime Crime is having on Makeupbee.com. I'm not going to enter the contest since I did this look a little bit late but it was a great theme to create makeup on. :)

Oh, and another thing; I've been creating a lot of jewelry lately and here you can see a hair-piece and a choker that I made. :) I will probably put some of them up for sale on etsy sometime in a not-so-far-away future. I think homemade jewelry is a great thing to use to make an outfit unique. :)

With that said, let's move on to the look!

Oh, I realized you can't really see the hair-piece that good on any of the pics. :/

And here the little pendant on the necklace has been turned the wrong way. XD

-------------------------------------------------

Step 1. Start by priming your eyes. I don't have a primer at the moment so I'm using Studio Finish Concealer by M.A.C. It works quite good as a primer but not optimal. And yes, I've shaved off most of my eyebrows. And I love it, although it looks kind of grotesque. ;)

Step 2. On the inner part of your lid, apply the Jumbo Pencil in Milk by NYX and blend it out. On top of Milk, apply the champagne color Shimma shimma by Makeup Geek. Leave the part underneath the eye white.

Step 3. On the outer corner, apply Poison plum by Sugarpill, and blend well. Also apply it beneath your lower lashline.

Step 4. I've met so many people that find it hard to use eyeliner, and they usually end up with something like this. This is how the liner looks before blending. ;)

Step 5. Using a M.A.C. #266 brush I've blended out the sharp, rickety lines drawn with Smolder (eye kohl, by M.A.C.). On top of smolder I've applied Corrupt by Makeup Geek, which is a matte black.

Step 6. Also using the #266 brush, I've drawn on the eyebrows using Poison plum (Sugarpill) on the inner part and Corrupt (Makeup Geek) on the outer, and then blending them together.

Step 7. On the inner part of the lower lid, apply Buttercupcake by Sugarpill.

Step 8. Finish the eye makeup with black mascara and a pair of falsies. These falsies are #28 by Red Cherry.

Step 9. On the lips I've used a Smolder by M.A.C. as lip-liner but left a part in the middle of the lips untouched. Apply a black lipstick on top of the lip-liner. On the untouched part, apply NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk and on top of that Poison plum. As a highlight I applied a little more Milk on the center of my lower lip. Blend the purple and the black together.

Step 10. On my cheeks I've used a warm pink blush from e.l.f. It is called Glow I think...

I hope this tutorial was helpful!

Have a nice day everyone! :)

Amelia Arsenic inspired makeup

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks! :)

This look is one that I made for a competition at the blog Killercolours, a while ago. It was fun participating even if I didn't win. :) If you're curious about the winners you can see them here.

Anyways, the makeup were supposed to be inspired by dreams and my dream is to be a full-time professional makeup-artist and apply makeup on pretty models. One of my favorite models is Amelia Arsenic who can be found in several Sugarpill ads. She's cool and has a very original style. :) Therefore,
I made a makeup look inspired by her.
